Training
Training is for everyone.....
The SAIDSA Technical Training Courses consist of a number of short skills programmes designed to upgrade the skills of current technicians as well as new technicians coming into the industry.
The courses can be completed online.
Online training is a convenient alternative to classroom training and can be completed at your own pace. These courses are also perfect if you are in an area not covered by classroom training.
Each individual course carries a certificate of “Competency” which is recognised by SAIDSA and by the industry as bona fide training. New technicians will get an absolute grounding in all aspects of Intruder Alarms, making it possible to utilise their skills immediately. All that will be required will be training in the specific brand products that your company uses as well as practical on-the-job training.
Classroom Training:
Classroom training for Intruder alarms is only available for companies who wish to train 15 or more learners.
Practical Assessment:
Learners who have successfully completed the competency courses In Intruder Alarms may attend the 1 Day in-class practical assessment for SAIDSA CERTIFICATION.
Learners must have at least 6 months practical experience in the following before being allowed to do this assessment:
- Intruder Alarm wiring
- Intruder Alarm installations
- Control panel programming

The Nemtek Courses consist of 5 modules – each with its own specific focus and outcome. Our courses are hands-on, practical training sessions that are conducted either in a Classroom, Virtually via Zoom or Online depending on the module selected.
Register NowSAIDSA “CERTIFIED" TECHNICIAN (INTRUDER ALARMS ONLY)
The SAIDSA “Certified Technician” is the highest qualification recognised by SAIDSA and the industry in Intruder Alarms. This requires the successful completion and competency in all the subjects. This qualification requires a technician to be working in the Intruder Alarm industry for at least 6 months. Even an experienced technician will have to have completed and be found competent in ALL the Intruder Alarm Modules online to qualify as a certified technician.
To qualify for “Certified” status, the learner will also be required to attend a 1 (one) day “Practical” assessment following the successful completion of all the “Theory” modules completed online.
The learner must have practical experience in the following:
- Intruder Alarm wiring
- Intruder Alarm installations
- Control panel programming
To become a “SAIDSA CERTIFIED” technician you will be required to comply with one of the criteria below.
- All alarm technicians employed by a SAIDSA member company MUST complete the online SAIDSA competent course.
- SAIDSA members employing up to 9 technicians must have at least 1 (one) SAIDSA-certified technician in their employ, and if they employ 10 or more then 20% of technicians must be certified.
- Trainees who have never been employed in the industry before must first complete the competent course, gain at least 6 months of experience and install not less than 12 alarm systems with a SAIDSA member company before completing the practical course and qualifying for SAIDSA Certified status.
- Those trainees who have obtained a SAIDSA Certified certificate before 1 May 2017 may upgrade their certificate to the new SAIDSA certified certificate by submitting proof of at least 24 months of experience and have installed not less than 24 alarm systems with a SAIDSA member company
- Trainees who have been employed by a SAIDSA member company for 5 continuous years and have completed the SAIDSA competent course may obtain SAIDSA-certified status by submitting sufficient proof that he has been employed by a SAIDSA installation company for a period of not less than 5 years immediately prior to application and have installed not less than 50 SAIDSA compliant alarm systems, Alternatively the trainee can also complete the practical course.
- SAIDSA “Certified” status is only available to South African residents.
How to pay for your staff using Payfast Instant EFT for online training?
In cases where a company is paying for a course on behalf of a staff member, the following notes and instructions will guide you through the process.
- The student must be registered in his/her own name in order for the system to link the student to the course and issue a certificate in the students name. The students email address must be entered (not the company).
- The system will send a confirmation email to the student.
- The student will click on the confirmation link in the email.
- Enrol in the course of choice.
- The system will ask for payment as well as display the amount.
- Click PAY.
- You will be redirected to the Payfast Payment gateway.
Payment Steps:
- Step 1: Enrol in the course of choice.
- Step 2: In the payment gateway click INSTANT EFT.
- Step 3: Select your bank – the EFT details will follow.
- Step 4: Click LOG IN = This will log you into your banks internet banking system.
- Step 5: The Payfast payment information will remain in a block on your banking page.
- Step 6: Copy the information in the Payfast block into your banking page.
- Step 7: Confirm payment.
- Step 8: The paid course will be unlocked.
Welcome to SAIDSA Online Training.
Please read the module carefully before you begin your training experience. This will explain how the course works and how to navigate through the course.
- Each course is made up of Modules and Lessons, Resources, Quizzes and Activities.
- Some modules may only have one lesson and others may have a number of lessons attached to it.
- In each case all the lessons have to be completed in order to be found competent.
- DO NOT jump around. The course contents have been designed to flow from one subject to another.
- It is highly recommended that you complete each Course in sequence.
- It is IMPORTANT to complete each Module in sequence in order to avoid confusion and misunderstanding.
- You may enter each lesson as many times as you like.
- You may log in or out of the course as often as you like.
Resources:
- Resources are aids to assist you in your training and may include printed learning material, Links to websites or other useful information.
- Some of them are compulsory and some of them are optional. Optional Resources are clearly marked as “Optional” in brackets.
- Resources will be visible either at the top of a page or within a module.
Lessons:
- The lessons contain text and diagrams and are the main content of your course. Read these carefully until you have an understanding of the subject. Lessons are also downloadable from the resources as well for your future reference.
Completion of a lesson:
- On the right-hand side of each lesson is a tick box. Some of the tick boxes will be ticked automatically once certain conditions are met. Others will require you to mark it as complete. At the bottom of each lesson, you will find navigation buttons as well as a box which allows you to mark the lesson as complete.
- The course is not complete until all the lessons are marked as complete and the exam for that course is completed.
Activities:
- Activities are not optional and must be completed.
Exams:
- There is an exam at the end of each course. This will give you your overall score and determine whether you are competent or not. Once you have obtained a score of 85% you will be able to unlock the certificate for that course and print it.
- Should you not obtain a competent score, you are advised to go through the course material again before you attempt the exam again.
- You will be allowed 3 attempts to gain a competent score.
- There will be a time delay of 45 minutes between attempts.
- After 3 unsuccessful attempts you will be locked out of the exam and will be required to enrol and purchase the course again, should you wish to obtain a certificate of competency.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO COMPLETE THE EXAM BEFORE YOU HAVE READ THROUGH THE LESSONS… no matter how smart you think you are!
Unlocking your Certificate:
- When you have achieved a pass mark of 85% for the exam, your certificate below the exam will be unlocked and will be sent to your email address. It may also be downloaded and printed directly from the site by clicking on the certificate link.
- If you have not achieved a pass mark of 85% the certificate will NOT be available. You may attempt to get a higher grade by attempting the exam again. You are permitted 3 attempts only after which you will be locked out of the exam and will be required to register and purchase the failed course again.
Useful Tips:
- Do not rush through the course. Ensure that you understand the subject before attempting the exam.
- There is a time limit of 90 minutes for the completion of an exam.
- Do not jump around in the lessons. Complete each lesson in sequence.
- If you do not achieve a pass mark of 85% in the exam, DO NOT attempt to complete the exam again until you have gone through the course material again.
